Description

Offered is a General Service Medal 1962-2007, with clasp Northern Ireland, to Trooper Thompson, who served there with the 4/7th Royal Dragoon Guards.

36mm circular silver medal with ornate scrolled ribbon suspension bar with ‘SOUTH ARABIA’ clasp; the face with the crowned head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, circumscribed ‘ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F.D.’ (Elizabeth II by the Grace of God Queen Defender of the Faith); the reverse inscribed centrally ‘FOR CAMPAIGN SERVICE’, a Tudor crown above, all within an oak wreath; attributed on the edge to 23974877 TPR. B. I. THOMPSON. 4/7 DG.; very good condition, on original ribbon.

Out of the hundreds of GSM’s I have owned over the years, this is the only 4/7th Dragoon Guards GSM with this clasp I’ve come across.
