British War Medal – named 4750 PTE. L. CHARLES. 60-BN. A.I.F. which comes with extracts from service record and war diary. Leo Charles enlisted for service with the 15th Reinforcements, 8th Battalion on 28/10/1915 at Ballaratt, Victoria. Transferred to 60th Battalion 13/5/1916. He was wounded in action in France on 19/7/1916, District Court Martialled for being AWOL for 5 weeks, copping 60 days detention and 140 days loss of pay. He returned to Australia for discharge on 10/8/1918.
