Description

Offered is a genuine ‘Boer War’ issued 1888 Pattern Enfield Lee Metford dagger/bayonet & scabbard, having been issued to the 9th Battalion of the King’s Royal Rifle Corps.

The bayonet features stamped wooden grips, with the locking lug (working). The double edged 30.5cm long blade is in exceptional condition, with light wear. Blade Enfield maker marked, dated 01 02 (January 1902) with a 1904 reissue stamp. Retains the War department inspectors & broad arrows acceptance stamps. The metal & leather scabbard is in good condition, with two vertical cuts points to centre, upper metal chape showing pitting (cleaned) and marked 2MX 32. Blade slides in and out of scabbard with no issues. Measures 44 cm overall.
