Patrick McGrath enlisted July 1876 (Unattached List), posted to 60th Foot in India August 1878. During the Afghan War he was at Kasuali until March 1879, moving to Kandahar 31 March 1879, and remaining there when regiment marched to Kabul with General Stewart. Upon quitting Kandahar September 1880, the regiment marched to Quetta, McGrath separated to Chakratta instead, re-joining November 1880. South Africa 1881 detached from regiment to Ladysmith. Discharged at Winchester 7th August 1882.
