An exceptionally rare Anzac Of The Year Award medal in fitted case, awarded to Mary Bennett Bell in 1980 by Governor General Sir Roden Cutler V.C. The 13cm wide darkened bronze medallion features Simpson & his donkey carrying a wounded soldier to obverse, with the reverse showing the award details and name for Mary Bennett Bell. Accompanying this is the miniature chained medal, in it’s RSL/Australian Mint fitted case, with photograph of Mary and typed extract from her niece, stating Mary’s history, war service and tireless service to returned soldier’s in Australia up to the point of her death. An exceptionally rare Anzac Of The Year Award medal in fitted case, awarded to Mary Bennett Bell in 1980 by Governor General Sir Roden Cutler V.C. She is listed along with the other state winners as winning this award for services to the community. This is a very rare award, 1980 being only the 2nd year of the award, with generally 1 award made to a recipient in each state per year. I have never seen one of these medals come up for sale and would rate this as an extremely rare investment/collectible.
