Offered is a Queens South Africa Medal (1898 – 02) with 3 clasps; CAPE COLONY, TRANSVAAL, SOUTH AFRICA 1902, impressed named 41801 TPR .T. KILBURN ASHBURNERS. L.H. Comes with copies medal roll and Regimental roll page. Medal has been remounted, as it has originally been worn as a brooch as shown. Trooper Thomas Kilburn 41801 served 31/1/02 – 24/3/02 discharging in Kimberly when the corps was disbanded. Ashburners Light Horse saw much hard work and a lot of fighting. The corps suffered casualties on many occasions. They had the ill-fortune to be part of the column of Major Paris, and under Lord Methuen, when that General was defeated by Delarey on 7th March 1902. Casualties: 12 killed and a similar number wounded out of a strength of 126.
