Australian trio & Permanent Forces LS&GC medal group to Honorary Captain John Pollard, who served with the 3rd Field Ambulance, A.I.F. Swing mounted for display group includes 1914/15 Star, impressed named to W.O. (CL.2) J. H. POLLARD. 3/F AMB. A.I.F.; British War & Victory Medal, impressed named to HON/CAPTAIN J. H. POLLARD. A.I.F. & Permanent Forces of the Empire Long Service & good Conduct Medal, engraved in capitals to QR.MR. & H/CAPT. J. H. POLLARD. A.I.C. 13.9.28 Enlisted in the A.I.F. on the 27th August 1914, being a pre war Militia soldier of some 11 years he gained the rank of Warrant officer whilst aboard the troopship ‘Rangatira’. Proceeded with the M.E.F. to Gallipoli and hospitalised in Malta in August 1915. Promoted to the not often seen rank of Honourary Captain 9th September 1917 and served at various Field Ambulance units during the war. Discharged 25th April 1919. Served after the war, earning the rare Permanent Forces LS&GC medal in 1928. Comes with a large amount of research and personal copies papers and letters.
