William Delaney attested for the Royal Garrison Artillery and served with the 63rd Company in South Africa during the Boer War. Advanced Company Quartermaster Sergeant, he served during the Great War in the Persian (Aden) theatre of War from 4 July 1915 (entitled to a 1914-15 Star, not the 1914 Star as shown), and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for services in India.
