Offered is an Egypt Medal (1882-89) 1882 on reverse. Engraved in upright sloping capitals 7420. PTE J.W.BEVERLEY.AUX C & T.C. Comes with copies of service papers and medal rolls. 5th Auxly Company Comst & Transport Corps on Egypt Medal roll. James William Beverley was born in 1858 in Southampton. He enlisted into the Army Service Corps on the 13/11/1876 at London.  He was 5’4 tall. 15/11/1876 hospitalised for 7 days ‘Contusion to chest’ as a result of being kicked by a horse. A fine welcome to the Army. Deserted 8/10/1879 re-joined 5/11/1879. Charged with desertion and loss of equipment. Service history. Home 15/11/1876 – 21/2/1879. South Africa 22/2/1879 – 21/2/1880. Home 22/2/1880-16/8/1882. Egypt 17/8/1882 – 3/11/1882. Home 4/11/1882 – 14/11/1888. Also entitled to South African War Medal for Zulu & Basutu Wars. ( 25th Sept 1877- 2nd Dec 1879. A nice campaign medal to a young soldier who had a hard start in the Army. Interesting he deserted in South Africa and then rejoined.
