Offered is a 1914-15 Trio & Croix de Guerre Medal group to Sapper Jacques, 149th Army Troop Company & 441st Glamorgan Field Company, who was wounded in action in France. 1914-15 Star impressed named 101358 SPR. J. JAQUES. R.E. British War and Victory Medal impressed named 101358 SPR. J. JACQUES. R.E & French Croix de Guerre reverse dated 1914- 1915. Court mounted for display & comes with copies of Medal Index Card, medal rolls, discharge documents, census records covering 1901, 1911 & 1939. Note incorrect spelling of family name on 1914-15 Star and roll. James Jacques was born in Waltham Abbey Middlesex on the 4/5/1872. He enlisted in the Royal Engineers on the 27/5/1915 at Walthamstow giving his age as 40 when he was in fact 44 with his occupation was listed as a bricklayer. He landed in France 7/10/1915 and was posted to the 149 Army Troop Company (established similar to Field Companies, but for behind-the-lines bridging and water work).
