Thomas Alfred Heywood was born in Salford, Lancashire in June 1898. He enlisted into the 20th Lancashire Fusiliers (Bantam Battalion) with the service number 21827. The Battalion was formed in Salford, 23/3/1915. It landed in France 30/1/1916 and was disbanded 16/2/1918.
