Offered is an original, 1821 pattern British light cavalry sword from the short reign of William IV (1830-1837).

Features a nickel plated 3 bar guard with triple wire shagreen wrapped grip. Plain, simple ball topped pommel & back strap, . Single edged piped back spring steel 90cm blade is in excellent condition showing very sharp acid etched maker detail to,”ODELL & ATHERLY Manufactuer 71 & 72 Burlington Arcade From Bond Street” with William IV royal cipher to both blade sides. Blade edge is unsharpened with spear-point end. Rolled steel, nickel plate scabbard with double ring hangers is an excellent fit for the blade. 

A superb light cavalry officers sabre, completed with white kid skin sword knot with gilt wire acorn. Sword measures 104cm, in scabbard 107.5cm.
