Description

Royal Navy Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (G.V.), impressed named J.46074 R.J. GODDARD. Y.S. H.M.S. EXTER. Comes with copies of service papers and medal roll.

Chief Yeoman of Signals Reginald James Goddard was born on the 7/4/1900 at Eton, Buckinghamshire. A house boy by trade, he enlisted into the Royal Navy on the 27/10/1915 as a Boy 2nd Class.

During the war he served on the H.M.S Pembroke, H.M.S. Chatham, H.M.S Glorious, H.M.S. Courageous 15/6/1917 – 31/3/1919 and was at the Second Battle of Heligoland Bight.

He continued to serve up to and including WW2, being promoted to Yeoman of Signals 27/2/1931 and Chief Yeoman of Signals 11/7/1935.

Also entitled to the British War and Victory Medals (1914 – 18) and probably several WW2 medals and campaign stars.

He died in July 1975 at Windsor.
