Description

East & West Africa Medal 1887-1900, 1 clasp WITU AUGUST 1893, neatly sloped engraved named Pte Awadi Komli WAFF MWELE.

The medal is in exceptionally fine condition.

The medal & clasp was awarded to a member of the West African Frontier Force for service in the Punwani & Jongeni campaign of August 1893. The expedition was undertaken and led by Captain G. R. Lindley R.N. against Sultan Fumo Omari of Witu. Most of the clasps for the campaign being awarded to naval personel, with few being awarded to ground forces.
