Offered is an original & rare First World War era etched German parade bayonet with scabbard.

Bayonet & scabbard features nickel-plated steel fittings, including birds head pommel & ornamental release button, cross hatched wooden grips and metal guard, the plating near faultless. The 20 cm long nickel-plated steel blade shows the ‘blood groove’ to the centre of each side of the blade, with one side being etched with the name STOEWER, with ornate pattern scroll surrounding, the maker details etched to blade spine for M. Brockhaus Berlin - Schoneberg, with retailer stamp PO & Co to ricasso with blacksmith trademark. The blades factory sharpened only, with minor age wear and nickel crazing.

Standard slightly worn black enameled metal scabbard, with no evidence of there ever having had a frog stud affixed.

Overall length: 34.5cm long. A good example of a personalised etched parade bayonet, perhaps being a graduation present or other type, but certainly rarely seen with such an etching.
