Queen Victorian era 1827 Royal Naval Officer’s sword & scabbard. Brass lion’s head pommel, with maine backstrap, ray skin grip with wire wrap and gilt brass guard, showing the fouled anchor & crown, with folding langet, engraved G.J. Mills Esq. R.N. 76cm long, slightly curved, blade, shows etching to both sides of foulded anchors, royal crown, coat of arms etc, with maker mark for SEAGROVE – THE HARD – PORTSEA. Clear engravings, with some very light patches of wear and nicks to blade. Scabbard shows all 3 gilt brass lockets and suspension rings, with a small area of loss of stitching, but generally good overall. Top locket shows the corresponding polished makers plaque. A good named example of this mid 19th century sword.
