Operational Service Medal for Afghanistan, awarded to Captain D M Whitten, Parachute Regiment. The medal is presented in mint condition, with the 'AFGHANISTAN' award bar. The medal is laser engraved named to the rim and comes in the original award box, with his details to the base. This medal has only been awarded since 2002 for service in Afghanistan, these are rarely seen for sale and even rarer to an Officer of the Parachute Regiment. Helmand, or as it was called by those present - 'The Wild Wild West' was one of the toughest areas of operation in the entire country, with operations there resulting in a large number of casualties to the Paras. Very rarely will you see a Parachute Regiment associated service medal, let alone to an Officer who served so recently.
