Description

Offered is an original Poilish Decoration of the Brotherhood of Arms medal.

30mm wide circular silvered metal medal with gothic shield imposed, with suspension of two chains from an oak and a laurel leaf cluster to a ribbon ring; the face with a map of Poland with a gothic shield imposed bearing the two vertical Grunwald swords, inscribed ‘1410 1945 GRUNWALD BERLIN’ with, at the top, a Polish eagle perched on an Amazon shield, all circumscribed ‘BRATERSTWO BRONI NA STRAŹY POKOJU i SOCJALIZMU’ (Brotherhood in arms guarding peace and socialism); the reverse inscribed ‘MINISTERSTWO OBRONY NARODOWEJ (Ministry of National Defence) and circumscribed POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA (People’s Republic of Poland); on original ribbon.

The medal was instituted on 7 October 1963 and awarded to members of the armed forces of Poland, the U.S.S.R. and other Warsaw Pact countries. The current example dates from the period 1975 to 1990.
