POST WW2 BRITISH CADET OFFICER’S SERVICE MEDAL CAPTAIN O V BEVAN BEDFORD SCHOOL

Description

36mm wide circular cupro-nickel medal with scroll and ribbon bar suspension; the face with the crowned head of King George VI facing left; the reverse with a hand holding a flaming torch, circumscribed ‘THE CADET FORCES MEDAL’; attributed on the edge to CAPT. O. V. BEVAN C.C.F.; on mounted ribbon as worn.

Medal comes with an extract of the London Gazette showing award to 63490 Captain Bevan 17th November 1950,  having served at the Bedford School as part of the Junior Training Corps.

The medal was instituted on 1 February 1950 to be awarded to officers and uniformed adult instructors in recognition of long service of proved capacity in the Cadet Forces with twelve years’ reckonable service being required for award of the medal.
