Offered is an original late 1940's/early 1950's era made Australian Army Major General's uniform jacket.

Khaki wool jacket, 4 pocket type, with red lapel general officer's gorgets with bimetal general officer's buttons (throughout), full old-style gilt brass major general rank devices, above the left pocket are 2 rows of WW2 era ribbons, including Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.), plus the very rarely seen France & Germany Star, the first I've ever seen on an Australian Army uniform, most likely meaning he was attached for service with a British H.Q. in NW Europe during WW2. Retains belt loops, but no belt, with only two small moth nips. Lining the khaki silk type, showing light wear, etc. Larger size, approx 40.

Given the fairly unique medal combination, I would think this jacket's original owner could be traced, either through the 1953 coronation roll or nominal roll, for any senior officer serving in NW Europe after 6th June 1944.
