POST WW2 ERA SULTANATE OF BRUNEI MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL CASED SET BY SPINK

Offered is a cased set of full size & miniature Meritorious Service medals awarded by the Sultanate of Brunei.

35mm wide circular cupro-nickel medal with laterally-pierced ball suspension; the face with the parasol and crescent from Brunei’s arms, symbolising the power of the monarch and Islam, the crescent inscribed in Arabic script ‘Always in service with God’s guidance’; the reverse with a folded parasol and a laurel branch, circumscribed ‘ • MERITORIOUS • SERVICE • MEDAL • BRUNEI • ’; on original ribbon mounted for wear. The exact mounted miniature medal is included, both being housed in the Spink & Son of London fitted green leatherette award case.

The Medal was instituted in 1954 for senior military and civil public servants and is awarded sparingly ‘to those who have been loyal to His Majesty's Government, the country and religion throughout the length of their service’. A very good complete award set.
