Description

Offered is an original Federal Republic of Germany, Lower Saxony, Order of Merit, Grand Cross & 1st Class breast badge set

The Grand Cross, 65mm high red enamel narrow-armed cross pattée with scroll and loop and frosted white suspension ring & full silk neck ribbon; the cross face with a circular central rampant horse medallion, with plain reverse. The breast badge of identical design; 55 mm in height excluding with pin back & catch reverse; most likely an early 1960’s era set.

The order was established for outstanding service to the State of Lower Saxony on 27 March 1961.
