$305.00

SOLD OUT

Description

Offered is an original English made pattern P1876/95 spike socket bayonet with scabbard for the “new” Martini Enfield in 303 round.
Bayonet & scabbard features brass and steel fittings, with weathered grey metal pommel socket & working locking ring. The 54.5 cm long triangular steel blade shows the shallow ‘blood groove’ to the centre of each side of the blade and WD (War department) stamped (Enfield) E66 inspectors mark, being dated 5/ 85 (May 1885 production). The blades factory sharpened but dull edged with a good bright finish to all surfaces and standard dark pitting. Leather & brass scabbard, good fit on the blade and good stitching and shape, with round brass rivets, WD/I\ E7stamps body and brass mounts with frog button. Overall length: 63.5cm long. A good used example of a Zulu wars pattern bayonet, as used with the classic 1894 Martini Henry Enfield 303 rifle up into WW1.
