PRE WW1 BRITISH AUSTRALIAN POLICE CONSTABULARY SHORT SWORD SCABBARD WARRANTED

Description

Offered is an original English made Constabulary short sword with scabbard, as worn by Police constables during the early to mid 19th century.

C.1830 British Police constabulary etched short sword and scabbard features a brass ‘D’ shaped guard and ribbed topped pommel, with good fish skin grip, showing some service wear to ribbed portion. Leather washer fits well into the slightly curved 57cm long, thick cutlass blade, that shows minor age dark spots edge and has sharpening rasp marks. Acid etched ‘WARRANTED’ to both sides of the blade. Black leather scabbard has upper and lower brass mounts intact, as well as the frog stud with 3/4 of the original stitching to spine missing. Overall measures 72cm. Worn overall, but in good, serviceable condition.
