Description

Offered is a Boer War Queen’s South Africa Medal, as awarded to Private J Wall, who served with the Ladysmith District Mounted Troop during the Boer War.

Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, no clasp (Tpr: J. Lane. Ladismith D.M.T.), refixed suspension. Medal comes with entitlement paperwork.

Only 47 Medals were awarded to the unit in August 1905, of which four were later returned.

Ladysmith is a town in the Western Cape; it is interesting to note that nearly all members of the unit had Afrikaans surnames, this being a rare exception.
