Description

Offered is an original Victorian era Royal Naval Long Service & Good Conduct Service Medal, which was awarded to Stoker Johnson, whilst he was serving aboard the torpedo cruiser H.M.S. Fearless.

1877-1901 era circular silver medal, measuring 36mm wide, on claw and swivel ribbon bar suspension; the face with the young head of Queen Victoria, circumscribed ‘VICTORIA REGINA’ and signed ‘WYON’ on the base of the neck, the reverse with a three-masted man-of-war within a circular rope, a reef knot at the base, circumscribed ‘FOR LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT’, named to: C. JOHNSON, STOKER, H.M.S. FEARLESS. Some very light face wear, but very good, retaining original full blue silk ribbon, with brass award hook, being sewn in to top corners of ribbon.
