PRE WW1 GERMAN BAVARIAN RAUPENHELM UNIFORM HELMET UNIT MARKED 3RD INF REGT

A circa 1880 German/Bavarian Raupenhelm leather helmet. Good gilded brass royal cypher ‘L’ with crown to face, lion head chinstrap posts and brass visor trim, full, yet brittle, leather chinstrap and slightly mothed, but generally very good bears fur comb. Leather liner shows some loss of tabs and tears, about 30% present, with remains of the original paper makers label and white paint unit designation. Overall a generally very good condition helmet, with most of these I’ve come across over the years in average to poor condition. Scarce.
