Description

32mm wide circular silvered bronze medal with loop for ribbon suspension; the face with the head of King Vittorio Emanuele III facing right circumscribed ‘VITTORIO EMANUELE III RE D’ITALIA’, signed D. Giorgi; the reverse inscribed ‘GUERRA ITALO-TURCA 1911-12’ within a circular laurel wreath; on original ribbon.

The medal was instituted by Royal Decree 1342 on 21 November 1912 and awarded to the expeditionary force, colonial troops and attached civilians and the naval military and civilians involved in the conquest of Libya from the fading power of the Ottoman Empire.
