Offered is a very good condition Model 1860 US Civil War Staff & Field Officer’s Sword with Scabbard.
Eagle adorned ornate toned frosted gilt pommel, with Union Eagle clamshell guard, with the reverse showing trophies of arms, with union shield. Fish skin guard, retaining its full wire wrap. 76cm long etched blade, with trophies of arms, eagle & U.S. floral motif, with maker mark for WM. H. Wilson Philadelphia P.A. Retains the nickel plated scabbard, with frosted gilt twin suspension rings/posts, showing some light flecks of wear to nickel finish. Overall length: 94cm. A well-preserved example, the type often associated with use during the U.S. Civil War.
