Pre WW1 Russian Caucasus sword shasqua Indo Persian Afghan sabre 1800s Styria
Offered is an original 1800s Shasqua/sabre Pattern Caucasus/Indo Persian/Afghan style sword with European “Styria” stamped blade. Very interesting Caucasues Afghan shashka type sabre, a rare form, displaying design characteristics derived from both Central Asian sabers and the Cossack shashka. The pinned bone grips in two sections, with steel/brass bolster, the heavy, single fullered 61cm blade with sharpened edge has been cutdown from a possible European trade blade due to the Styria manufacturers mark (this mark was also copied in India). Overall length 74.4 cm.
