John Lappin was born in Manchester, England 1872. Enlisted 16/5/1890. Served 1st & 2nd Bn H.L.I., also 5th Lancers. Recorded striking superior officer as well as many other charges. Pioneer qualified, served India, Malta post Boer War. Discharged 18/11/1909. Recalled service 28/10/1914 1st Bn H.L.I., discharged 5/8/1919. 24 years’ service in total.
