Offered is a rare WW2 German naval U-Boat presentation dagger, featuring a finely etched blue and gilt blade. This  presentation dagger shows the manufacture mark for E. Pack & Son of Solingen. The Dagger is the 2nd pattern naval type, as awarded to senior officer's & officer's in command of battle craft, in this case, to a U-Boat commander.

The daggers features finely gilded brass eagle and swastika pommel, twisted wire wrap to orange ivorine grip and ornate cross guard, featuring floral designs set with a central anchor and rope, being completed with a triple wrapped gilt bullion portepee knot. The fine 25 cm long blade, features a double sided blue and gilt inlayed engraving of an eagle with swastika on anchor, above the Wilhelmshaven BDU building, with the reverse showing blue & gilt finished filigree design, with the wording 'Dem tapferen U-Bootskommandanten' and the date 9. 5. 44 & facsimilie signature of Karl Doenitz (Grand Admiral of the German Navy and former commander of U-Boat forces).  A fine etching overall, with some light use & minor rubbing to colour panels. The dagger is finished off with a stylised, double suspension hanger, beaten pebbled design gilded brass scabbard. The scabbard shows light use, a couple of minor dents and 1cm seam dent. The locking button works well with the fitting of the scabbard to blade.
