Offered is an original 1855 British Army Land Transport Corps sword by Osborn & Gunby, designed for use in the Crimea War. One-piece brass ‘gladius’ ribbed grip and guard, stamped 33 to thumb panel, with ‘clipped’ cut down and sharpened 65cm single edged steel blade with makers marks at top of spine. Inspection stamped to ricasso, with blade showing some service nicks and wear, but generally good, with a nice tone overall, free of pitting. Overall length: 79cm long.
