Description

Offered is an original General Service Medal 1962-2007, with clasps Dhofar to Corporal Michael Calam, who served there with the Royal Air Force.

36mm circular silver medal with ornate scrolled ribbon suspension bar with clasp DHOFAR; the face with the crowned head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, circumscribed ‘ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F.D.’ (Elizabeth II by the Grace of God Queen Defender of the Faith); the reverse inscribed centrally ‘FOR CAMPAIGN SERVICE’, a Tudor crown above, all within an oak wreath; attributed on the edge to L8071676 CPL M CALAM RAF; in very good condition; with certificate of qualifications.

Michael Calam was born 25/5/1951 in the Don Valley, Yorkshire and enlisted RAF 17/9/1968, discharging 25/5/1981. He served as a driver, being qualified as a crane operator, balloon operator and aircraft refueller. Good to see a more ‘modern’ GSM with paperwork linking the man to the medal.
