RARE *POW LE CATEAU 1914* WW1 BRITISH ARMY MEDAL GROUP 7297 BISHOP HAMPSHIRE REG

Description

Offered is a very rare ‘Le Cateau’ Prisoner of War medal group to Private Bishop, 1st Battalion, The Hampshire Regiment, who was a pre war regular, then a time expired soldier, who was re called to the colours at the outbreak of the war. He was wounded in action at Le Cateau and taken prisoner by the Germans, he recovered from his wounds but contracted T.B and was repatriated to England via the Red Cross in Switzerland. He was medically discharged May 1918 and died June 1923 as a result.
