This is a genuine and rare 1858 Pattern British Sappers & Miners Lancaster Sword/Bayonet & Scabbard.

 The bayonet features fitted leather grips, with the locking lug (working) on brass birds head pommel. Brass guard stamped G562, incorporating muzzle ring, both ends with decorative quillons. Single edged, piped back 61cm long blade in good/used condition, with some very light surface pitting interspersed, with a ridge along the back to the point. The spine shows the acceptance stamp, as does the pommel and forte. The brass and leather scabbard is in good, sound condition, with no damage and all spin stitching present. Slides in and out of scabbard with no issues. The bayonet is in overall good to very good condition. Measures 75 cm overall. Only 15,000 of these were made in total worldwide, with most these British made types numbering no more than 5,363.
