RARE WW1 IMPERIAL GERMAN ARMY MODEL 1888 – 1898 ERSATZ BAYONET & SCABBARD MAUSER

Description

Offered is an original Great War S88/98 Ersatz pattern bayonet with scarce FAG scabbard.

Bayonet features steel split mortise guard and one piece hilt/ pommel with working release button. The 31cm long steel blade with blunt edge with a very light wear to surface. Rolled pressed steel scabbard shows typical shallow field dent but blade draws very smoothly from sheath.Scabbard is maker engraved FAG to Fredrich August Gobel. Overall length, not including scabbard: 43.5cm long. A good field used example of a late WW1 Ersatz bayonet, as used with the classic Gewehr G98 service rifle.
