RARE WW2 1944 DATED AUSTRALIAN OWEN GUN LITHGOW BAYONET WITH SCABBARD

Offered is a 1944 dated Second World War era Australian Owen SMG bayonet, with a scabbard. Features very good wooden grips, with โ€˜OAโ€™ stamped blued steel pommel and working bayonet attachment button. The 20.5cm long, cut down and hand sharpened blade retains the majority of the blue-grey protective finish to the blade, with light use overall. Stamped OA (Orange Arsenal) & issue stamped 10 44 (October 1944). The metal scabbard is also in very good condition with โ€œOAโ€ & Mangrovite 44 manufacture stamps. Overall length 41.5cm. A good condition piece, which was probably used as a fighting knife during the war, with many of these being used in New Guinea and islands against the defending Japanese forces.
