***SOLD***
Offered is a WW2 era British or Australian Army 1897 Pattern Signal Corps Officers Sword & Scabbard.
Features a plated nickel pierced nickel guard, showing some plating wear to the interior with King George VI royal cypher & crown design, with full chequered back strap. The wire bound fish skin grip is in good condition, with a couple of small areas of Verdigris forming to metal work. The 84cm long, straight blade shows near mint etchings of foliate patterns with royal cypher, ‘Royal Corps of Signals’ motto and ‘Jimmy’ balancing on a globe with maker mark for Anderson & Sons of Edinburgh. The leather scabbard is in very good condition, with only a few small sections of light surface rubbing/wear.
Not often will you see a blade in such brilliant condition, with this sword being a rarely seen Signals Corps example.
