Description

This original bayonet was manufactured to fit the Owen SMG.

The 25.5cm long blade is single edge, single fullered on both sides with the entire blade having a blued finish. The manufacturers mark & date are present MA-ORANGE ARSENAL; 1907, BROAD ARROW 5/45 – May 1945). The hilt incorporates a basic steel bird’s head with oil hole and features a push button internal spring latch and steel crossguard. The grips are made from wood, stamped SLAZ43 and are held in place by two slotted head screw and nut assemblies. All steel parts are blued. The scabbard has a steel locket with a rounded frog attachment stud and a steel chape with a blued finish. The sheath is made from brown composite material and was manufactured by Mangrovite. Markings – MANGROVITE45. The original canvas belt frog is still attached to the scabbard.

A rare and very collectable bayonet! Measures 41.6 cm overall.
