Offered is a Royal Navy Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (VR issue), impressed named JOHN FEENEY, SERG^T NO 2643 PLYMO R.M.L.I. Medal practically as struck, in exceptional condition. Comes with copy service record.

Sargent John Feeney was born on the 12/6/1855 at Manchester, a baker by trade he enlisted into the Royal Marine Light Infantry 12/5/1881. He served on the following H.M. ship and shore bases: Plymouth Division 16/7/81 – 10/10/82, H.M.S. Indus 11/10/1882 – 30/9/1884. Plymouth Division 1/10/84 – 28/11/88, H.M.S. Cleopatra 29/11/88 – 20/7/92, Plymouth Division 21/7/92 – 27/7/1894.

He was promoted to Corporal 11/3/1882 and Sergeant 5/12/1884. A rapid rise considering he joined in 1881.
