Stoker Petty Officer John Edmon Bound was born on 6/8/1872 at Dipton, Southampton. A labourer by trade he enlisted into the Royal Navy 24/2/1892 as a Stoker 2nd Class. He served on a variety of H.M. ship and shore establishments including: Victory II, Alacrity (Surprise class cruiser), Grafton (Edgar class cruiser) China Station, Victory I & II (accounts base for small ships), Duke of Wellington, Argonaut (Diadem-class of protected cruiser) China Station, Firequeen (special service steam yacht), Prince George (Majestic-class pre-dreadnought battleship), Cochrane (Duke of Edinburgh-class armoured cruiser), Excellent (shore base), Venus (Eclipse-class protected cruiser), Woolwich (Destroyer depot ship), Vernon (Torpedo school) and discharged to a pension 14/3/1914.

Recalled for WW1 he served on H.M.Yacht Victoria and Albert (which was the royal yacht), 2/8/1914 – 31/5/1916. Victory II (accounts base for small ships) 1/5/1916 – 9/1/1917. Attentive (shore base for the Dover Patrol), 10/1/1917 – 4/3/1919, when he was demobilised after 27 years.

He died in Portsmouth in December 1929.

Promoted to Stoker Petty Officer 1/7/1906.
