George Taylor was born in Stevenage, Hertfordshire in 1854, a farrier by trade, he enlisted into the Royal Artillery at Woolwich on the 20th January 1874. He served with several batteries but never left England. He discharged 9th April 1903 after 29 years and 80 days.
