George Taylor was born in Stevenage, Hertfordshire in 1854, a farrier by trade, he enlisted into the Royal Artillery at Woolwich on the 20^th January 1874. He served with several batteries but never left England. He discharged 9^th April 1903 after 29 years and 80 days.
