VINTAGE POST WW2 BELGIUM ORDER OF LEOPOLD MILITARY OFFICER’S DIVISION MEDAL

Description

73mm high gilt metal and white enamel Maltese cross with ball tipped finials, a gilt, green and red enamel wreath of oak and laurel between the arms, on sword & swivel crown suspension; the face with a central circular black enamel medallion with the gilt lion rampant of Belgium encircled by a red enamel ring inscribed with the Belgian motto ‘Strength through Unity’ in French and Flemish within a beaded border; the reverse with a central black enamel medallion with the monogrammed gilt letters ‘LR’ for ‘Leopold Rex’ within a red enamel ring decorated with stylised lilies within a beaded border; enamel intact; on original, french style mounted ribbon with rosette denoting an award of ‘officer’ class, with swords for military personel.
