Description

Offered is an original Franco-Prussian War 1870 German campaign medal bar.
Includes 1870-71 commemorative medal, with 5 clasps, WORTH, SEDAN, MONTVALERIEN, PARIS & WEISSENBURG; 1866 Austro Prussian War Cross and 1897 Kaiser Wilhelm I centenary medal. Clip mounted onto thick ribbon bar, lacking rear pin.
Note: The first medal has the correction inscription to the rim, meaning this was an original, 1st issue medal, these being made from the captured french cannons that were surrendered to the German forces as ‘trophies of war’.
