WW1 1905 U.S. ARMY SPRINGFIELD ARMOURY BAYONET & SCABBARD 1906 DATED

Offered is a WW1 era 1905 pattern U.S. Springfield Armoury made bayonet with scabbard. Bayonet features blued metal fittings overall, with working external release button, which fits into the original wooden grips which are fitted next to the metal guard and bayonet muzzle ring. The 41 cm long blade shows the ‘blood groove’ to each side of the blade, with evidence of sharpening and use, good spear point, with blade being in good/used condition overall with much of the original blue finish remaining. Ricasso stamped US 13764 & S.A. 1906 (maker & year of manufacture). The M3 scabbard retains an excellent condition...

The M3 scabbard retains an excellent condition resin-impregnated cotton duck canvas, flaming bomb stamped metal throat with wire hook hanger. Overall length 55cm.

The M1905 Bayonet was one of the U.S. most widely used bayonet.  It was used in both WW1 and WW2.  It was originally designed to fit the M1903 Springfield Rifle.
