Patrick Riordan was born 1/5/1894 in Glenbagh, Co Kerry, Ireland, he was working as an asylum attendant when he enlisted into the Royal Navy 2/1/1917 (service number J64563) as a hostilities only rating. He served on the H.M.S. Sandhurst (Depot ship, based in Scapa Flow) 6/3/1917 – 22/2/1919.  He then joined the Royal Air Force 29/5/1919 (service number 331238) serving as a Hospital Orderly, discharging 29/7/1921 termination of engagement with his address on discharge in South Wales. Just to round things off he joined the Royal Artillery at Whitehall, London 4/8/1921 (service number 1051293) and from there he transferred to the Corps of Military Police 23/9/1922 with whom he qualified for his LS & GC Medal.

The 1939 census records him as living in Lambeth with his occupation being War Office messenger. He died in 1976 in Leicestershire.
