Offered is a 1908 Pattern British or Australian Army Trooper’s Cavalry sword – the type famously used by the Australian Light Horsemen. The Sword features a 90cm long single edged blade with fuller. The blade is in good condition, being unsharpened as issued, with only very light service wear & age staining. Offered is a 1908 Pattern British or Australian Army Trooper’s Cavalry sword – the type famously used by the Australian Light Horsemen. The Sword features a 90cm long single edged blade with fuller. The blade is in good condition, being unsharpened as issued, with only very light service wear & age staining. The ricasso is marked EFD (Enfield Small Arms Factory) and rubbed manufacture dated for May 1915. There are some other issue stamps to ricasso - H S I & A 2 4. It has the correct field blackened full steel bowl guard and thatched brown composite grip with thumb recess and is fitted with its original leather washer. It is complete with its blackened steel scabbard, showing light service wear with fixed hanging rings. The Bowl & scabbard show a number of black paint finishes, so obviously a well used/service life. Overall length: 113 cm. The sword shows light use and manufactured within 9 months of the start of the Great War and the month after the Anzac forces landed at Gallipoli.
