WW1 Australian Battle of Fromelles 57th Battalion death plaque. Memorial Plaque, 1914-1918 named to Douglas George Richards. 1750 Private George Douglas Richards was born in 1895 in Plaistow, England, being the son of George William and Louisa Richards, of 38, Northern Rd., Plaistow, London, England. He enlisted aged 17 in Melbourne, February 1916. He died of disease (Pneumonia) on the 23/06/1917, aged 22, whilst serving with ‘A’ Coy. 57th Bn. Australian Infantry, A.I.F. on the Somme, France. He is buried at Wareham Cemetery, Dorset.
