John William Teasdale was born in Westgate near Weardale, Durham 1893. He enlisted on the 4/9/1914 at Darlington. His occupation given was shunter and he worked for the North Eastern Railway.Posted Gunner to 288 Depot 20/10/1914. A Battery 93rd Brigade 26/5/1915, Lance Bombardier. 6/10/1915 Bombardier. B Battery 93rd Brigade 30/8/1916. Served A & B Battery. 24 Reserve Brigade when Discharged 7/1/1919. Home 4/9/1914 – 21/7/1915. France 22/7/1915 – 20/10/1917. Home 21/10/1917 – 7/1/1919. Wounded in Action "Gun Shot Wound Thigh Left". Admitted 13 General Hospital Boulogne 1/5/1916. Wounded in Action Bruised back 27/8/1917. Admitted 1st Australian General Hospital Rouen. 93 (XCIII) Brigade
This brigade was originally under command of the 20th (Light) Division. The brigade remained with the division until late August 1916 when it was broken up. On 15 February 1915 the three six-gun batteries were reorganised to become four four-gun batteries and were titled as A, B, C and D Batteries. Between 22 and 31 August 1916, A Battery was broken up, with two-gun sections going to B and C Batteries. C Battery was then renamed as A Battery. On 8 January 1917 the brigade left 20th (Light) Division, having been re designated into an Army Brigade. B Battery joined from 166 Brigade (33rd Division) on 16 January 1917 and was renamed as C Battery.
